The Environmental Services section of the 2025 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) will center on green productivity, showcasing water affairs technology and urban operations support, organizers revealed at a media briefing in Beijing on Aug. 15. CIFTIS will be held at Shougang Park in Beijing from Sept. 10-14.

Liu Yunxue, head of the CIFTIS Center at Beijing Capital Group Exhibitions & Events Co. Ltd., revealed that the environmental services exhibition has so far confirmed over 50 enterprises for on-site displays, including industry leading firms and 16 Fortune 500 companies.

"This creates an exhibition framework where leading enterprises anchor industrial chains while connecting upstream and downstream partners," Liu said. "The exhibition features cutting-edge achievements across three core sectors: new energy and low-carbon energy services, environmental ecology and circular economy, and green and low-carbon digital technologies and services."

The exhibition's enterprise cluster for urban operations support, led by the Beijing Municipal Commission of Urban Management, will present the city's range of advanced governance practices. Li Rugang, deputy director of the municipal commission, explained that the exhibition will focus on refined urban management, smart city upgrades and sustainable development strategies. Centered on four core pillars — urban lighting, smart utility networks, clean energy and eco-sanitation — the cluster will demonstrate how collaboration drives progress. Through tangible achievements and innovative concepts, it plans to highlight Beijing's responsibilities and leadership in urban governance and development.

The Beijing Underground Pipeline Association will lead the smart utility networks section within the exhibition's urban operations support cluster. According to He Junshan, executive vice chairman of the association, more than 10 leading enterprises will demonstrate a four-dimensional monitoring network. The display will feature coordinated "unmanned vehicle + inspection robot" systems, dynamic pipeline leakage simulation systems, and third-party damage prevention technologies.

Wang Xiangcheng, director of the science and technology department at the Beijing Water Authority, said that the water affairs technology cluster will feature four thematic sections: waterfront spaces, digital water management, healthy water industry, and water conservancy and hydropower engineering. The area will showcase advanced water-related technologies, methods and equipment, with participation from leading domestic water enterprises and industry benchmark companies demonstrating innovations in integrating technology with water services.

A highlight of this year's CIFTIS will be a showcase by the Beijing Drainage Group of its latest technologies, low-carbon practices and comprehensive industrial chain capabilities in the healthy water sector through its subsidiaries. The exhibition will demonstrate the group's professional expertise and innovative achievements in water environment governance.

Zhou Fuchun, secretary-general of the Beijing Water Engineering Association, outlined preparations for the 2025 Beijing Water Technology Innovation Conference. Scheduled for Sept. 11, the event will gather over 400 participants including national and local government officials, academicians, and domestic and international experts and industry representatives. Attendees will take part in in-depth discussions on critical topics including national water network development, smart water management, waterfront space governance and urban flood control, collectively exploring practical solutions.

Zhu Lili, executive secretary-general of the International Green Economy Association, announced the association will host a green economy-themed exhibition during CIFTIS. The event will feature a "Zero-Carbon Park" solutions pavilion as the flagship environmental showcase, along with a green enterprise exhibition, specialized trade activities and a global green economy development forum.

This year's CIFTIS will prioritize building the "Beijing Services" brand. The environmental services exhibition will spotlight innovative technologies and advanced solutions, leveraging Beijing's scientific resources and local enterprises' capabilities to establish a green innovation system anchored in service trade, powered by core technologies and oriented toward practical implementation.

For example, Li Yanjun, AECOM China's landscape director, said the company will showcase its waterfront expertise and flagship projects at CIFTIS. The highlight will be the Beijing Liangma River Waterfront Landscape Corridor — a model for urban renewal and cultural-tourism integration that has boosted riverside business.

At the press conference, several executives also outlined exhibition plans. PowerChina Beijing Engineering Corporation Limited will present smart empowerment, benchmark practices and green innovation at CIFTIS, featuring its pumped-storage power station full-lifecycle digital intelligent platform and China's first large-scale pumped-storage power station project. Beijing Chaoyang Environmental Group Co. Ltd. will debut Beijing's first full-chain AI smart incineration system, marking the garbage incineration industry's shift to data-driven precision control. Beijing BestOne Pipeline Technology Co. Ltd. will demonstrate urban safety monitoring innovations to strengthen critical infrastructure protection.

In addition, the Environmental Services section of this year's CIFTIS will collaborate with leading international partners to organize nine green-themed forums. These include an academician forum on ecological and environmental industries serving the "dual carbon" strategy, a meteorological economy forum, and a global green economy development forum.
