Rayo Vallecano cruise into Conference League group stage

Rayo Vallecano qualified for the group stage of the UEFA Conference League on Thursday after a 4-0 win at home to Neman Grodno to secure a 5-0 aggregate win.

The Madrid outfit made good on its 1-0 first leg win against the Belarusian side thanks to four second-half goals, with two from Sergio Camello and further efforts from Jorge de Frutos and Alvaro Garcia.

The first half was an untidy affair from both teams, who weren't helped by the dry pitch in the packed Vallecas Stadium.

Chances were few and far between, but Rayo thought they had taken the lead when Camello slid home a loose ball in the Neman penalty area, only for VAR to rule it out after initially appearing to give the goal.

Anton Suchkov hit the Rayo crossbar in the only real chance for the visitors, before the game changed with the introduction of Unai Lopez in the Rayo midfield at the start of the second half.

Lopez gave Rayo more control and the home side began to rack up chances before Camello finally got his goal in the 64th minute as he finished calmly from eight yards out.

A minute later the tie was as good as over, as Camello again got the finishing touch to Alvaro Garcia's ball from the left.

De Frutos made it 3-0 with a chip over the Neman goalkeeper with 10 minutes left to play and Alvaro rounded off the celebrations by netting a fourth in the last minute.
