Top two seeds Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz clinched the men's singles semifinal victories at the US Open on Friday.

Second-seeded Alcaraz ended Serbian veteran Novak Djokovic's bid for a record 25th Grand Slam title with a 6-4, 7-6 (4), 6-2 victory in just over two hours.

"I played great tennis and I am happy to be at my second final at the US Open," the 2022 winner Alcaraz said. "I tried to play a physical match and I think I did."

The Spaniard will face top-ranked Sinner of Italy, who beat Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the other semifinal.

Also on Friday, Canada's Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe of New Zealand claimed the women's doubles title for the second time in three years.

The third seeds defeated top-seeded Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic and American Taylor Townsend 6-4, 6-4 in one hour and 29 minutes to reclaim the title they first won in 2023.

"We've been through so much together, and I feel extremely grateful to be standing here as a champion alongside you today. It means the world," Dabrowski said to Routliffe after the match.
