During the 7th Global Energy Interconnection Conference, hosted by the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO) in Beijing from September 8 to 10, Pedro Luiz De Oliveira Jatobá, Chairman of GEIDCO Brazil Committee, was interviewed by China.org.cn on his focuses for the conference, along with the clean energy transition and Sino-Brazilian cooperation.
During the interview, Mr. Jatobá emphasized the value of knowledge-sharing and partnership-building at the conference.
"My expectations for this conference are to get knowledge and share experience with other GEIDCO participants, in order to reinforce our commitment and path to the energy transition," he stated.
Reiterating GEIDCO's role in regional collaboration, he added: "GEIDCO is an excellent opportunity for countries in Latin America to reinforce the strategies and trajectories on the path to the energy transition and to mitigate climate change."
On the topic of China-Brazil collaboration, Mr. Jatobá highlighted Brazil's vast renewable energy potential and China's advanced technological experience as a powerful combination.
"Brazil has a huge potential for renewable energy resources. China has developed a lot of useful technologies for these objectives, and China is engaged in a big task of cleaning its energy matrix," he noted.
He also underscored that Sino-Brazilian cooperation could position Brazil as a major global player in the future energy landscape.
"This could be an opportunity for Brazil to become a global player after the energy transition," he said.
The conference serves as a critical international platform for promoting energy transition, grid interconnection, and sustainable development worldwide. This year also marks the 10th anniversary of GEIDCO.
