Beijing holds seed industry conference in Tongzhou district

The 32nd China Beijing Seed Industry Conference kicked off Thursday at Tongzhou International Seed Industry Science & Technology Park in Beijing. Jointly hosted by the agricultural and rural affairs departments of Beijing municipality, Tianjin municipality, and Hebei province, the conference brought together the three regions' strengths in innovation and R&D, technology transfer and application, and industrial integration.

At the conference, 54 overseas guests from international organizations including the International Seed Federation and 26 countries, along with 29 national and provincial industry associations, more than 100 scientists, and 950 enterprises, took part in the main and parallel sessions.

In addition to the main venue in Beijing's Tongzhou district, the congress also featured 10 parallel forums held across seven sub-venues, each focusing on specific sectors such as corn, microorganisms, vegetables, forestry, fruit, flowers and bees, livestock and poultry, synthetic biology, crop seedlings, and the seed industry for recreational fisheries.

The conference also hosted a parallel event showcasing scientific and technological achievements. The event took place in an exhibition hall covering 4,500 square meters, with one core zone, three achievement experience zones, and two functional zones.

In the core zone and achievement experience zones, activities centered on seed industry revitalization, smart agriculture and intelligent equipment, and biomanufacturing. In the premium and new product showcase area, 55 new brand entities from Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei presented more than 300 high-quality new products for display and tasting. While in the science and technology achievement release area, 45 research institutes and agricultural innovation entities unveiled 173 new varieties, technologies, and policies.

Meanwhile, the main venue in Tongzhou district opened a demonstration park for new corn variety, with a comprehensive leading solution for improving corn yield on display for the first time.

Prior to the conference, nine field observation and tasting activities for premium new varieties had already been held, showcasing a total of 1,100 new and superior varieties of corn and vegetables, with 160 key recommended varieties selected and released.
