Chinese electric vehicles took center stage at the Myanmar Auto and Parts Expo 2025, which opened at the Yangon Convention Center on Friday.
All 35 brands featured at the three-day expo are Chinese, with about 30 of them being electric vehicle (EV) brands, according to the event organizer.
"China is leading the auto sector. The quality of Chinese brands is now accepted by the whole world," said U Zar Ni Tin Myint, managing director of Silver Sea International Co., Ltd, which jointly organized the event with the Myanmar Automobile Manufacturer and Distributor Association.
The expo will also host a knowledge-sharing forum titled "Power Shift: The Business of Going Electric" on Saturday, he said.
Visitors showed strong enthusiasm for EV displays. "I came here to observe EVs. I like BYD cars. Some of my friends are already shifting to EVs. Chinese EVs have advanced technology and attractive designs," said Pyae Phyo Aung, one of the attendees.
Among the brands on display are Hongqi, BYD, Leapmotor, JMC & JMEV, and Jetour.
The event will run until Sunday.
