The deal marks Ouyang's return to Universal Music exactly 10 years after releasing her debut album "15" with the label. The 25-year-old artist is an accomplished cellist, singer-songwriter, and actor.

"It's been 10 years since I released my first album with Universal Music," Ouyang said. "Now at 25, reconnecting with the label makes this moment feel even more meaningful — it's the beginning of an exciting new chapter."

"I'm excited about working with a team that understands my vision and supports my creative freedom," she added. "With Universal Music Group's global platform, I hope my music can reach more audiences around the world, resonate across cultures, and lead me to discover new creative artistic possibilities."

Ouyang has built a career spanning music, acting, fashion, and art over the past decade, establishing herself as a cultural figure among young audiences.

Ouyang began studying piano and cello as a child and received a full scholarship to the Curtis Institute of Music at 13. She later attended Berklee College of Music for contemporary music studies.

At 15, she signed with Universal Music China and released the platinum-certified classical album "15." In 2017, she collaborated with Disney on "Cello Loves Disney." She transitioned to singer-songwriter work in 2020 with her EP trilogy "Nana I," "Nana II," and "Nana III," followed by English album "Live Today" and Chinese album "The Star." Her latest cello EP, "Love Letter," sold out instantly when pre-orders opened.

"Nana represents a rare blend of musical talent, artistic curiosity and cultural impact," said Timothy Xu, chairman and CEO of Universal Music Greater China. "From a cello prodigy to an accomplished music creator, she has come a long way over the past decade — and at just 25, her future holds immense potential. We're delighted to welcome her back to Universal Music at the start of this exciting new phase in her artistic journey."

Xu said the label will support Ouyang's creative development and help strengthen her global reach through its international network and artist development expertise.

Ouyang has built a social media following of more than 50 million through lifestyle vlogs and creative content. She made the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list for bridging artistic credibility with mainstream influence.

Ouyang's signing represents another milestone in Universal Music's expansion in China as the company builds its roster of Chinese artists and promotes their music globally.
