During the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday from Oct. 1 to 8, Beijing will host 364 commercial productions, totaling 2,102 performances, according to Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism. The lineup includes traditional Chinese operas, modern avant-garde theaters, and classical music and pop concerts.
The performances held in Beijing during the holiday are expected to be filled with a strong sense of patriotism. One play will be "Live Broadcast: The Founding Ceremony," which will be staged at the Taihu Stage Art Center of the National Center for the Performing Arts, taking audiences back to the historic moment of the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949.
The lineup also features Mid-Autumn Festival–themed performances, including a grand symphony concert of Chinese and foreign classics and a family concert for the festival.
In addition, several newly produced plays will make their debut. The Beijing People's Art Theatre will present a new production of "Hamlet," bringing Shakespeare's classic to life with upgraded stage design and a brand new cast. Meanwhile, the play "Pride and Prejudice" at the Beijing Performing Arts Theatre will offer a contemporary reinterpretation of the Western literary classic.
During the holiday, music performances will also be held across the city. The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, in partnership with Baidu Maps, has launched a music map featuring 40 outdoor concert locations, covering parks, shopping districts, and various urban complexes.
Tickets for the events are now available at various box offices and ticket platforms.
