Beijing will promote industrial tourism and aims to attract 20 million visitors and generate 3 billion yuan ($420 million) in revenue by 2027, according to a recent plan released by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology.

The plan seeks to build Beijing into a destination that integrates industrial tourism, shopping, and immersive experiences. The city will optimize its industrial tourism layout and release a catalog of industrial tourism sites.

Beijing will upgrade and promote landmark industrial parks such as Shougang Park, as well as the 798 and 751 art and industrial zones, transforming them into hubs for exhibitions, performances, and cultural and creative activities. Five industrial parks will also be developed to showcase robotics, commercial aerospace, and autonomous driving.

About 10 industrial tourism attractions combining sightseeing factories and museums will be introduced, while around 20 factories will upgrade tour routes.

To enhance visitor experience, industrial enterprises are encouraged to renovate production sites, add visitor centers, and improve supporting facilities for product displays, shopping, and parking.

To boost consumption, Beijing will encourage the development of products such as fashion apparel, home decoration, and branded food items. More than 20 types of industrial products will be launched as the official "Beijing Gifts."

The city will also pilot inbound tourism services at industrial tourism sites, offering multilingual guidance and tourist-friendly payment options, including instant tax refund services.

Transportation networks linking major industrial tourism destinations with public transit will be improved, with shuttle buses and dedicated tourist routes introduced at high-traffic sites, alongside expanded parking facilities.
