China's express delivery sector posts strong growth in first 9 months

China's express delivery sector handled 145.08 billion parcels in the first nine months of 2025, up 17.2 percent year on year, official data showed on Thursday.

China's broader postal industry, which includes express delivery services, handled a total of 158.26 billion parcels during this period, representing a 15-percent increase from a year earlier, according to the State Post Bureau.

From January to September 2025, the postal industry's business revenue totaled over 1.31 trillion yuan (about 184.72 billion U.S. dollars) -- an increase of 7.7 percent year on year.

Specifically, express delivery revenue hit 1.09 trillion yuan, marking an increase of 8.9 percent.

Same-city express deliveries amounted to 11.87 billion parcels during this period, up 4.3 percent year on year, while cross-region deliveries rose by 18.6 percent to 130.17 billion parcels.
