Sepulveda, Auzmendi fire Banfield past Lanus

Bruno Sepulveda and Rodrigo Auzmendi scored in each half as Banfield edged to a 2-1 home win over Lanus in Argentina's Primera Division on Monday.

The hosts went ahead in the 35th minute when Sepulveda tapped home at the far post after Mauro Mendez's cross from the left.

Mendez was again the provider in the 68th minute, sending a perfectly weighted pass into the path of substitute Auzmendi, who took a touch before angling a shot into the far corner.

Eduardo Salvio reduced the deficit in the 93rd minute, blasting a first-time effort that rebounded in off the crossbar following Dylan Aquino's cross.

Banfield is now sixth in Group A with 20 points, three behind leaders Boca Juniors, while Lanus is third in Group B with 26 points.

Elsewhere in Argentina's top flight on Monday, Huracan won 3-1 at Defensa y Justicia, Sarmiento drew 1-1 at Platense, Central Cordoba was held to a goalless home draw by Racing and Tigre drew 0-0 at Belgrano.
