On Oct. 14, the State Grid Balin Left Banner Power Supply Company replaced aging power lines on the 10 kV Zhenjing feeder to significantly boost grid reliability in Balin Left Banner, China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

The Zhenjing feeder, which had been in service for many years, was identified with serious safety risks. Its original conductors lacked a steel core and its span distance was considerable.

Executed by a team of 24 workers, this modification was designed to permanently solve the problem of easy breakage.

To mitigate the impact of an outage, the company implemented robust contingency measures, involving establishing an emergency power supply from a mobile substation with an output capacity of 2,000 kW.

Moreover, loads were transferred via two 10-kV lines, minimizing the impact of the outrage on households.

After 14 hours of diligent efforts, the replacement task was successfully completed and power supply was restored.

The project involved replacing 4.5 kilometers of insulated conductor, effectively enhancing the line's resilience against risks.

The power supply company said it will closely monitor the operational status of the upgraded line, proactively manage all grid maintenance tasks for the upcoming winter peak load, and work to elevate the overall health of the power supply equipment.
