Poland will close Russia's consulate in Gdansk, the last Russian consulate in the country, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said Wednesday at a press conference.

Sikorski said that the closing of the consulate in the northern Polish city was not Poland's full response to what he called hostile actions by Russia. He said Poland had repeatedly warned Moscow that its diplomatic and consular presence would be further reduced if such activities continued.

The Russian Embassy in Warsaw will remain open. "We do not plan to sever diplomatic relations with Russia," he added.

An explosion that occurred last weekend on the Warsaw-Lublin railway was described as an act of sabotage by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. He told the parliament on Tuesday that two Ukrainian men, acting on behalf of Russian intelligence, were responsible for the sabotage.

Such accusations against Russia are "completely baseless and unfounded," Russian news outlet RIA Novosti cited Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying on Wednesday.
