Zaw Min Tun, leader of the Information Team of Myanmar's National Defense and Security Council, has condemned Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's recent Taiwan-related remarks, reiterating that Myanmar has always firmly adhered to the one-China policy.

In an interview with Xinhua on Saturday, Zaw Min Tun said that Takaichi's remarks show no lessons learned from history and demonstrate neither remorse nor responsibility for the crimes committed by Japan across Asia. Southeast Asian countries, including Myanmar, once suffered deeply from Japanese fascism, and Myanmar firmly condemns any possible resurgence of fascist tendencies in Japan.

Takaichi's remarks violate the one-China policy and encourage "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, Zaw Min Tun said, stressing that Myanmar has always firmly adhered to the one-China policy and that Taiwan is an inalienable part of the People's Republic of China. The Taiwan question is purely China's internal affair, and Myanmar opposes any external interference.
