During the January-October period, China's total retail sales of consumer goods amounted to 36.6 trillion yuan ($5.17 trillion), marking a 4.4% increase year on year, 1.2 percentage points higher than the year-on-year growth rate in the same period last year, an official of the Ministry of Commerce said at a press conference on Thursday.
