Pinggu to establish Beijing's largest fresh corn variety selection center

The 1st Beijing (Pinggu) Fresh Corn Industry Development Conference and the 44th China Fresh Corn Conference kicked off in Yukou town, Pinggu district, northeastern Beijing, on December 2.

Yukou town will establish Beijing's largest fresh corn variety selection center and industrial distribution hub. Once operational, nearby residents will have access to a wider variety of locally produced fresh corn with better taste.

Yukou town has 1,118 mu (about 74.5 hectares) of "Pinggu Digital and Intelligent Farm," which boasts 132 high-quality corn varieties. The area has created smart standardized planting scenarios that precisely monitor corn growth.

Pinggu district is building itself into an "E-commerce Capital." Its mature e-commerce ecosystem will provide strong sales channel support for fresh corn and fully integrate the entire industrial chain from breeding and production to sales.

According to Tai Qimin, deputy head of Yukou town, the town will establish a Modern Agricultural Service (Fresh Corn) Center as part of the "Zhongguancun Modern Agriculture" initiative. The center plans to serve Pinggu and the surrounding Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, with future expansion to areas such as Shangdu in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
