Qingdao rout Beijing, Fujian edge Hunan in CBA Club Cup

The Qingdao Eagles staged comeback to crush the Beijing Ducks 107-76 in the 2025-26 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) League Club Cup on Thursday.

In the first quarter, Beijing started strong with a 14-6 run, quickly establishing an early lead. However, in the final three minutes, Qingdao launched a fierce offensive and rallied to narrow the gap to 24-22.

The second quarter mirrored the first. Beijing adjusted their tactics and briefly extended their lead by seven points. Yet Qingdao once again mounted a vigorous counterattack, unleashing a 13-4 surge to overtake Beijing and build a seven-point advantage by halftime.

After the break, Qingdao took complete control, opening the third quarter with an 11-0 run, followed by a dominant 27-10 stretch that essentially sealed the win.

Beijing was without key players such as Zhao Rui, Zhou Qi, Chen Yingjun and Zeng Fanbo, while Qingdao fielded a relatively complete roster. For Beijing, Eugene German contributed 19 points, two rebounds, and five assists, while Nuni Omot added 11 points, two rebounds, and one assist. For Qingdao, Jordan Mickey recorded 22 points, six rebounds, and two assists, while Joe Young posted 20 points and six assists.

Also on Thursday, the contest between the Fujian Sturgeons and the Changsha Yongsheng told a completely different story. The scores at the end of each quarter were 29-26, 57-51, 82-70, and 94-90, with Fujian maintaining narrow leads before ultimately securing the victory.

Travis Trice led Fujian with 28 points, four rebounds, and 11 assists, while Zou Yang added 23 points and five rebounds.

On the same day, the Shanghai Sharks defeated the Ningbo Rockets 99-71, the Liaoning Dinosaurs won 90-79 against Hefei Kuangfeng, the Zhejiang Lions crushed the Tianjin Pioneers 108-90, the Beijing Royal Fighters edged the HK JinNiu 96-95, the Shenzhen Leopards beat the Xinjiang Flying Tigers by the same score, and the Shanxi Brave Dragons bested the Guangdong Southern Tigers 106-93.
