Beijing's art and cultural sectors are thriving, with a surge in acclaimed works winning major national honors. Thirteen Beijing productions were recognized at the 17th Five One Project Award, a record achievement. Additional wins include the Beijing Literature and Art Awards, the Lotus Award, and the Golden Rooster Awards.

Recent works closely follow the tide of the times. Films, TV dramas, novels, and stage productions, from "Article 20" to "The Wandering Earth II," capture contemporary life, social concerns, and Beijing's rich heritage through diverse artistic styles.

Beijing's cultural boom is supported by strong policy design. New action plans for performing arts, film and TV development, and arts criticism provide clear guidance. A full-chain support system, from creation consultations to coordinated filming services, helps artists bring ideas to life.

Funding has also expanded. Over 400 million yuan is invested annually through major cultural funds to support publishing, audiovisual projects, and more.

Innovation is accelerating. Immersive experiences, new performing spaces, and cross-sector collaborations are reshaping how audiences engage with the arts. International visibility is rising too, with works like "The Wandering Earth II" and "To the Wonder" gaining global attention.

In the first half of 2025, Beijing hosted more than 29,000 commercial performances, attracting over 6.97 million spectators and generating 2.3 billion yuan ($325.32 million) in box office revenue, year-on-year increases of 10%, 10.5%, and 17.8%, respectively.
