The shipment of 20 vehicles makes Qingling Motors the second Chinese commercial vehicle brand, after BYD, and the first from western China to operate in Singapore.

The move follows a partnership formed in March 2024 between Qingling Motors, Chongqing Norsen, and Singapore-based Motorway, facilitated by the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity Administrative Bureau.

Singapore's automotive market is known for its strict regulatory, safety, and performance standards. To meet these requirements, Qingling Motors did not simply convert a left-hand-drive model, but redesigned the vehicle from the outset, with development and testing fully aligned with EU certification standards.

Michael Lim, president of Motorway, said Qingling Motors led the technical development and worked closely with Motorway to resolve challenges throughout the process. On Nov. 6, Qingling (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. held a launch event in Singapore, officially introducing the EQ2 to the local market.

The EQ2 is designed with sustainability in mind, helping users reduce carbon emissions while improving operating efficiency. Even before delivery, 10 units from the first shipment were pre-sold. The vehicles will primarily be used for cargo transport and cold-chain logistics at airports, ports, and other logistics hubs.

Qingling Motors has long pursued growth in both domestic and overseas markets. The company has established seven knock-down factories and 11 marketing centers across Southeast and South Asia, and built a distribution network of 30 dealers. The export of its right-hand-drive new energy commercial vehicles to Singapore marks a new step forward in Qingling's international expansion.
