The 14th National People's Congress (NPC) will open its fourth annual session in Beijing on March 5, 2026, according to a decision made by the NPC Standing Committee on Saturday.

The decision was adopted at the end of an NPC Standing Committee session held from Monday to Saturday.

The annual session is expected to examine the report on the implementation of the central and local budgets for 2025 and the draft central and local budgets for 2026.

According to the decision, lawmakers are expected to deliberate on the draft environmental code, the draft law on promoting ethnic unity and progress, and the draft law on national development planning, as well as the work reports of the NPC Standing Committee, the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate.

According to a recent Chairperson's Council meeting of the 14th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, the fourth session of the 14th National Committee of the CPPCC has been suggested to start on March 4, 2026, in Beijing.
