Beijing Tongzhou Railway Station, located in the comprehensive transportation hub of Beijing's sub-center in Tongzhou district, began operations on Tuesday. The new station further strengthens rail connectivity in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
The station serves as a key node for the Beijing-Tangshan and Beijing-Tianjin intercity railways, significantly reducing travel time within the region. The fastest travel time from the new station to Baodi Station in Tianjin is now just 26 minutes. Passengers can reach Hebei's Tangshan in 55 minutes, Qinhuangdao in 90 minutes, and Tianjin's Beichen district in 56 minutes.
During the initial phase, 42 high-speed train services originate from or terminate at the new station.
The station features an underground design with three levels, including an arrival hall, a waiting hall, and a platform level. It currently operates with seven arrival and departure lines and seven platforms.
As part of the adjustment, the original Tongzhou Station on the Beijing-Harbin Railway has been renamed Zhongcang Station, which will primarily handles suburban passenger services on the S1 line. Tongzhou West Station on the Beijing-Chengde Railway will serve S6 suburban rail services.
The three stations together support the development of Beijing's sub-center, improving travel convenience for residents, and advancing the construction of a one-hour rail transport circle in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
