U.S. President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff said on Thursday that "a lot of progress" has been made in talks aimed at ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

"It's time to end this. I think we're going to get this done," he said at the Davos Ukrainian Breakfast.

Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, are expected to travel to Moscow later on Thursday for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, U.S. media reported, adding that the Kremlin confirmed the meeting.

Rustem Umerov, secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, said on Telegram on Thursday that he met with Witkoff and Kushner on the sidelines of the annual World Economic Forum, with discussions focusing on security guarantees as well as post-war reconstruction and economic development.
