Over the years, several Chinese cities and regions have emerged as strategic pillars underpinning the country’s drive to become a global intellectual property powerhouse. The Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Guangzhou innovation cluster topped the Global Innovation Index 2025 top 100 innovation cluster ranking published by the World Intellectual Property Organization, with Beijing ranking fourth and the Shanghai-Suzhou cluster sixth.
