Olympic champion Chen advances to semis at Indonesia Masters

China's Olympic champion Chen Yufei delivered a solid performance to move into the 2026 Indonesia Masters semifinals here on Friday.

Chen advanced to the women's singles semifinals after defeating Indian star Pusarla V. Sindhu in straight games, 21-13, 21-17, displaying consistency and control throughout the match. She will face Japan's Nozomi Okuhara in the semifinals.

In mixed doubles, China's Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin came through a tough three-game battle to edge past the host pair Adnan Maulana and Indah Cahya Sari Jamil, 22-20, 14-21, 21-19, securing a place in the semifinals.

Another Chinese mixed doubles pairing, Guo Xinwa and Chen Fanghui, bowed out in the quarterfinals after losing 21-18, 21-14 to Denmark's Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Boje.

In women's doubles, China's Luo Xumin and Wang Yiduo were eliminated following a three-game loss to Indonesia's Rachel Allessya Rose and Febi Setianingrum, going down 18-21, 21-16, 21-10.

The 2026 Indonesia Masters is a BWF World Tour Super 500 tournament, with this year's event being held in Jakarta from Jan. 20 to 25.
