China's economy stands on solid foundations with strong resilience and vast potential, and the country's opening to the world will only deepen, a spokesperson for the annual session of the country's top political advisory body said Tuesday in Beijing.

"China is committed to promoting high-quality development and expanding high-standard opening up, which not only drives its own progress but also benefits the world," said Liu Jieyi, spokesperson for the fourth session of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). "China remains the most stable, reliable and positive force in a turbulent world."
Liu said China has promoted the implementation of the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative, advanced high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and called for an equal and orderly multipolar world and inclusive economic globalization. The country is committed to building a world of lasting peace, universal security, common prosperity, openness, inclusiveness and ecological civilization.
Over the past year, the CPPCC National Committee coordinated public, people-to-people and think tank diplomacy to support China's broader diplomatic agenda, the spokesperson said.
"We engaged in in-depth discussions with friends from various countries on important issues such as the evolving global landscape, the deepening of mutually beneficial cooperation, the promotion of mutual learning among civilizations, and the consolidation of a consensus for cooperation. We also shared our experiences on the formulation of five-year economic and social development plans, environmental protection, poverty alleviation and women's development," he said.
Through these exchanges, he noted, all parties deepened their shared thinking on humanity's future. "There was a consensus that addressing today's global challenges requires both vision and a sense of responsibility. The important concepts and solutions proposed by China provide both vision and strong impetus for countries to work together in building a better world," he added.

On the Chinese economy, Liu said the fundamental conditions and underlying trends supporting long-term sound growth remain unchanged.
"Over the past year, despite turbulent external environment, China's economy pressed ahead against the headwinds and achieved solid progress with enhanced quality and dynamism, demonstrating strong resilience and vibrancy," he said.
He noted that total economic output reached a new high of 140 trillion yuan ($20.24 trillion) last year, with growth continuing to rank among the fastest of the world's major economies. Deeper integration of technology and industry spurred a wave of innovation, and new quality productive forces expanded rapidly.
He continued: "The Chinese economy has always advanced by overcoming difficulties and grown stronger by weathering winds and rains. While we still face some lingering problems and new challenges, the economy has a solid foundation, numerous strengths, strong resilience and vast potential. The supporting conditions and underlying trend of long-term sound growth remain unchanged."
He also noted that China is a staunch advocate and significant contributor to the international cause of poverty reduction, having fulfilled its responsibilities and provided assistance to developing countries within its capacity. China has signed Belt and Road cooperation documents with more than 150 countries and dozens of international organizations, with flagship projects taking root across the developing world, boosting local economies and creating jobs.
He added that the launch of island-wide special customs operations at the Hainan Free Trade Port last year was a landmark step in China's efforts to expand high-standard opening up and promote an open world economy.
"The door of China's opening up will not close, but will only open even wider. China will unwaveringly expand high-standard opening up, promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, inject more positive energy and certainty into global development, and share development opportunities for a better future," he said.
The fourth session of the National Committee of the CPPCC holds its annual session from March 4 to 11 in Beijing. The session includes opening and closing meetings, group meetings and sector-specific consultations. During the session, national political advisors will hear and deliberate on the work report of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee, among other documents. They will also sit in on the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress and discuss various documents, including a government work report and a draft 15th Five-Year Plan for national economic and social development.
