The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) moved to the brink of the Women's Asian Cup quarterfinals after a 5-0 win over Bangladesh on Friday.
DPRK, which returned to the tournament for the first time since finishing runner-up at the 2010 edition in China, had beaten Uzbekistan 3-0 in the Group B opener. It now leads the group with six points and will face defending champion China on Monday.
DPRK, a three-time champion, was frustrated for much of the first half against Bangladesh after two goals were overturned by video review.
Bangladesh finally conceded just before halftime when Afida Khandaker gave away a penalty. Myong Yu Jong, fresh off her hat-trick against Uzbekistan, converted from the spot before Kim Kyong Yong struck to make it 2-0 at the break.
DPRK pulled further clear after the interval. Chae Un Yong scored from close range before Kim added her second with a long-range strike into the left corner.
Kim Hye Yong completed the scoring late on with a header.
Bangladesh will face Uzbekistan on Monday.
