Rodrigo De Paul and Lionel Messi scored first-half goals as Inter Miami secured a 2-1 away win over DC United in the MLS on Saturday.
The visitors went ahead in the 17th minute when Telasco Segovia capitalized on a turnover and combined with De Paul, who took a touch before curling a shot into the far corner.
Messi doubled the lead 10 minutes later, running onto Mateo Silvetti's pass and lifting a shot over goalkeeper Sean Johnson.
The hosts pulled a late goal back through Tai Baribo, who tapped in from close range after goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair parried away Jackson Hopkins' low effort on the counterattack.
Inter Miami survived a tense final 15 minutes to clinch its second win of the season and move to fourth in the Eastern Conference standings, a point behind leader New York City.
DC United is eighth with three points from its first three games of the season.
