China won three gold, one silver and two bronze medals as the Archery World Cup season opener concluded in Puebla, Mexico, on Sunday.

In the women's recurve team final, China's Zhu Jingyi, Huang Yuwei and Yu Qi delivered a commanding performance to sweep Türkiye 6-0. The young Chinese trio had topped qualification before beating France and Spain on the way to the final. Host Mexico took bronze.

China also swept the podium in the women's individual event. Zhu topped qualification with 659 points and beat Huang 6-2 in the semifinal. Yu then whitewashed Li Tsai-chi of Chinese Taipei 6-0, setting up an all-Chinese final. Zhu defeated Yu 6-0 in the final, while Huang secured bronze by beating Li 6-2.

Zhu claimed her third gold medal after teaming up with Sun Jingxuan to beat the United States 5-1 in the recurve mixed team final.

"It (Winning three gold medals) feels unreal, but I'm quite happy with it," 19-year-old Zhu said, adding that the results had boosted her confidence for the upcoming international events this year.

In the men's recurve team event, China's Wang Yan, Qin Wangyu and Sun defeated France 6-2 to take bronze. The United States won gold and Türkiye claimed silver.

The next stop will be held in Shanghai from May 5 to 10.
