Premium electric vehicle brand Smart, a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Geely, unveiled two new models Wednesday at its Global Brand Event in Beijing, signaling a push to expand its lineup and international footprint.
The event's centerpiece was the global debut of the Smart Concept #2, a compact all-electric two-seater that reimagines the brand's iconic city car. Designed by the Mercedes-Benz Global Design Team, the Concept #2 combines minimalist proportions with bold styling.
Built on Smart's new Electric Compact Architecture, the production version is expected to deliver a range of nearly 300 km and charge from 10% to 80% in under 20 minutes.

The production model of the #2 is set to make its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show in October, according to the automaker.
Also making its world premiere was the #6 EHD, the brand's first premium fastback sedan. The plug-in hybrid model offers a claimed range of up to 1,810 km under Chinese testing standards, with fuel consumption as low as 3.9 liters per 100 km. The vehicle combines a sleek, aerodynamic design with a spacious interior and advanced in-cabin technology.
Speaking at the event, Smart Global CEO Tong Xiangbei said the company is expanding its product lineup to meet diverse customer needs.

"We have built a true, complete product portfolio where each model carries forward the Smart DNA — designed with love, no compromise on safety and amazing to drive," Tong said. "Styled by Mercedes-Benz and intelligently crafted in China, Smart is becoming a contemporary premium EV brand embodying distinct expression."
The company said it plans to expand its portfolio from three to five models this year, adding to its existing #1, #3 and #5 vehicles, as it strengthens its position in the premium EV segment across some 40 global markets.
