Real Madrid's run-in to the end of the season has been dealt a blow with confirmation that two key players will not play again for the club in the domestic campaign.

Turkish attacking midfielder Arda Guler and Brazilian central defender Eder Militao have both been diagnosed with muscle injuries. Militao suffered his injury in Tuesday's 2-1 home win over Deportivo Alaves, while Guler pulled up in training on Thursday ahead of Friday night's game against Real Betis.
"After the tests carried out today on our player Arda Guler by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the biceps femoris of his right leg," the club website said of Guler.
The club issued a second statement on Militao, explaining that "following tests carried out today on our player Eder Militao by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the biceps femoris of his left leg."
Although neither statement gave a return date, the nature of the injuries means it is virtually impossible for either player to return before the end of the season. Guler should, however, have no problems joining Turkey for the World Cup finals, while Militao is also expected to be available for Brazil.
