The Shenzhen–Nanning High-Speed Railway (ShenNan HSR), a major corridor linking Guangdong and Guangxi, has achieved two new construction milestones in recent days, following the recent breakthrough of the Xinzhong Tunnel.
The Shimen Tunnel was successfully drilled through this week, marking another key step forward for the project. The single‑bore, double‑track tunnel stretches 358 meters, and its completion signals that construction along the entire line is now accelerating.
Meanwhile, work at Luoding North Station is progressing steadily. Slope protection structures have begun to take shape, and multiple construction tasks are advancing in an orderly manner.
The ShenNan HSR runs from Shenzhen in Guangdong Province to Nanning, capital of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, forming a new high‑speed rail artery connecting the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area with southwestern China. The line is being built at an accelerated pace and is expected to open in 2027.
Once operational, the travel time between Shenzhen and Nanning will be shortened from the current 3.5 hours to as little as 2.5 hours, significantly enhancing regional connectivity and economic integration.
