A delegation of 23 diplomats from 14 countries gathered in Chongqing on April 25 to take part in the "Discover the Beauty of China · Experience the New Charm of Chongqing" event.
In Ciqikou Ancient Town, located in Chongqing's Shapingba district, the diplomats watched a high-pole lion dance performance and captured the moment on their phones. At an embroidery workshop, a local embroiderer demonstrated her craft. In the Chen Mahua (fried dough twist) experience area, the diplomats followed an intangible cultural heritage bearer as he guided them through the steps of kneading, twisting, and shaping the dough, and they posed for photos with their own creations.
Jordan's Ambassador to China Hussam Al Husseini, remarked that the ancient town showcases Chongqing's historical heritage and its confidence in development.
The diplomats also took a night cruise on the Yangtze and Jialing rivers. Thousands of drones rose over the Jialing River, forming the Chinese characters for "Majestic Landscape, Charming New Chongqing."
During the visit, the diplomats also traveled to Chiyou Jiuli Town in Pengshui Miao-Tujia Autonomous County to learn about Miao culture, toured Wulong to see its world natural heritage sites and local ecological protection practices, and visited the Dazu Rock Carvings to view digital preservation efforts for the world cultural heritage site.
