Chinese acrobatic production 'Swan' reimagines Russian classic

The Chinese acrobatic production "Swan," produced by the Guangzhou Acrobatic Troupe of China, staged four performances in Moscow from April 24 to 26, and was recently featured at a China-Russia dialogue on cross-cultural stage innovation.

The production reinterprets a Russian ballet classic through the language of Chinese acrobatics. Deng Yanlei, publicity officer for the show, said it achieves an organic integration of the two art forms through performance, aesthetic expression and emotional storytelling.

Russian sculptor Grigory Viktorovich Pototsky called the work "dynamic sculpture with the body as its medium," saying watching "Swan" gave him new insight into his own artistic practice.
