The ITF World Tennis Masters Tour MT400 Shangdong Cup Beijing-Changping kicked off in Dongxiaokou town, Changping district, Beijing on May 13.

The tournament has been upgraded from last year's MT200 to the MT400 level. It features seven age groups and 31 individual draws with a total prize purse of 250,000 yuan (around $36,533), and attracted 880 entries this year, setting a record for national tournaments at the MT400 level. Approved by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and the Chinese Tennis Association (CTA), the tournament will run until May 17.

The tournament offers a full range of supporting services, including transportation, accommodation, medical care and security. It provides accommodation subsidies and coordinates with nearby hotels for discounted rates. More than 600 parking spaces are available, with shuttle buses for athletes and spectators, while medical stations and ambulances are on-site for emergency response.
The event also features a range of cultural and tourism activities including hot-air balloon experiences, a music festival and themed merchandise such as commemorative tennis balls. An outdoor VR tennis experience zone has been set up to allow beginners to enjoy the sport, and an AI-powered video contest has also been launched to help encourage public participation.
