The first Sun Island Film Week will run from Aug. 6 to 9, followed by the seventh Jackie Chan International Action Film Week from Aug. 10 to 12, organizers said at a press event at the China National Film Museum.

As the event's initiator, Jackie Chan took the stage and unveiled the main poster and trophy design for this year's film week. He said it continues to encourage outstanding action filmmakers who demonstrate perseverance, responsibility and a commitment to excellence, setting industry role models.

Chan also issued a global call for martial arts talent at the event, saying the film week's Ironman Awards — which honor action filmmakers — represent not fame or honor, but the spirit of those unafraid of hardship, pain and difficulty.

"Whether you are an action actor on screen, or a stuntman, martial artist or action choreographer behind the scenes — no matter which country you come from — as long as you love action cinema and have the skills, the stage of the Jackie Chan International Action Film Week is always open to you," he said.

Chan donated a signed poster from the seventh film week to the China National Film Museum for its permanent collection.

Ma Jia, director of the China Movie Channel Program Center, said the film week has become one of the most professional, authoritative and internationally influential events in Chinese action cinema, continuously building on its core values and contemporary significance.

She also said the China Movie Channel's collaboration with Harbin to host a series of film events advances the broader "film+" development model, which seeks to integrate cinema with tourism, culture and other industries.

Lan Feng, director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Harbin Municipal Committee, stated that the launch of the two film weeks marks a new model of central-local collaboration.

"It is also an important platform that uses cinema as a bridge, gathers strength through culture, and empowers revitalization and development through this grand event," she said.

Lan said this year's Sun Island Film Week will feature seven major sections, including film and literary incubation, industry resource matchmaking, film music performances and classic film screenings, making it a celebration for the public and a showcase for the city.2.jpg

Zuo Heng, director of the Film Culture Research Department at the China Film Art Research Center, introduced the screening lineup for the two film weeks and invited moviegoers to attend.

The Harbin leg of the "China Travel with Chinese Films" campaign will also be held during the period. Zhou Wei, general manager of the Harbin Madier Cultural Tourism Investment Group, outlined a series of activities for the Sun Island Film Week centered on film economy and "film+."

Fans from Russia, Cameroon, Egypt and other countries also took the stage to express their admiration for Chan and his films.
