Arthur Cabral netted a hat-trick as Botafogo ended a three-game winless run with a 3-1 home victory over Corinthians in Brazil's Serie A on Sunday.
Cabral struck either side of Rodrigo Garro's 10th-minute strike and added a third with a clinical finish after combining with Kauan Toledo.
"I always say that a center-forward needs to be resourceful and I showed that today," Cabral told reporters. "I was able to score with my left foot, from outside the area and then with an opportunistic finish. That's the most enjoyable thing. I'm very pleased for the team because we needed this win."
Botafogo is now ninth in the standings with 21 points, three ahead of 17th-placed Corinthians.
In Curitiba, Pedro scored a late equalizer as Flamengo drew 1-1 at Athletico Paranaense. Stiven Mendoza gave the hosts the lead when his shot from a tight angle deflected in off goalkeeper Agustin Rossi.
Former Fiorentina striker Pedro equalized in the 84th minute, side-footing in from the edge of the six-yard box after Bruno Henrique's cross.
The result leaves Flamengo second in the standings with 31 points, four behind leader Palmeiras, while Paranaense is fifth, seven points further back.
Elsewhere in Brazil's Serie A on Sunday, Bragantino won 2-0 at home to Vitoria, Remo prevailed 3-2 at Chapecoense, Bahia was held to a 1-1 home draw by Gremio, and Coritiba cruised to a 3-0 away win over Santos.
