Editor's Note: The Beijing Ancient Architecture Museum opened its doors to the public free of charge on Monday in celebration of International Museum Day.
Located on the historical site of the Xiannong Altar (Altar of Agriculture) in Beijing's central Xicheng district, the museum is the first in China dedicated exclusively to the study and exhibition of ancient Chinese architectural techniques, artistry and history.
International Museum Day is celebrated every year on May 18, with institutions around the world hosting various events. This year's theme is "Museums Uniting a Divided World."
