
China maintained its momentum on Day 2 of the 2026 Malaysia Masters on Wednesday, with players advancing to the second round in all five events.
China's men's singles players enjoyed a strong day. Lu Guangzu edged Jason Gunawan of Hong Kong, China, 21-17, 17-21, 21-18 in a grueling match lasting one hour and 20 minutes, while Hu Zhean defeated Malaysia's Leong Jun Hao 21-19, 23-21.
Li Shifeng came from behind to beat Japan's Minoru Koga 17-21, 22-20, 21-15, and Zhu Xuanchen defeated Canada's Brian Yang 21-18, 22-20.
In women's singles, Han Qianxi overcame Japan's Natsuki Nidaira 24-22, 21-13, while Olympic champion Chen Yufei eased past Canada's Wen Yu Zhang 21-14, 21-13.
In men's doubles, Hu Keyuan and Lin Xiangyi beat Indonesia's Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin 21-19, 13-21, 21-15.
Women's doubles pair Bao Lijing and Cao Zihan defeated Malaysia's Low Zi Yu and Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan 21-18, 21-12.
China also had a strong showing in mixed doubles. Guo Xinwa and Chen Fanghui edged Japan's Akira Koga and Natsu Saito 21-19, 12-21, 22-20, while Cheng Xing and Zhang Chi beat Malaysia's Hoo Pang Ron and Lai Pei Jing 13-21, 21-12, 21-16.
Zhu Yijun and Li Qian defeated Germany's Marvin Seidel and Thuc Phuong Nguyen 21-11, 13-21, 21-19, and Gao Jiaxuan and Wei Yaxin beat Indonesia's Dejan Ferdinansyah and Bernadine Anindya Wardana 21-19, 21-19.
The 2026 Malaysia Masters runs through May 24.
