Substitute Nicolas Fernandez scored two late goals as Belgrano recovered from a goal down to clinch its first Argentine top-flight title on Sunday with a 3-2 win over River Plate.

River took the lead in the 18th minute when Facundo Colidio side-footed home after Tomas Galvan's run and cross from the left wing.

The Cordoba side equalized eight minutes later through Leandro Morales, who latched onto Lucas Zelarayan's corner with a glancing header into the far corner.

River restored its lead just before the hour when Colidio and Galvan combined again and the latter finished a counterattacking move with a clinical finish past goalkeeper Thiago Cardozo.

Fernandez, a 76th-minute substitute for Lucas Passerini, put his side on level terms by converting an 85th-minute penalty after a Lautaro Rivero handball.

Belgrano suddenly seized the momentum and former San Lorenzo forward Fernandez struck the winner with a first-time effort into the bottom-left corner after Franco Vazquez's cross.

"It's crazy, like a movie," Fernandez told reporters after the match. "The city deserved a big title like this and it's a great feeling to be a part of it."

It marked the first major title in Belgrano's 121-year history and came just four years after the club returned to the top flight.
