China's Ministry of Commerce has voiced firm opposition to U.S. trade restrictive measures imposed under the pretext of so-called "forced labor."
Speaking at a regular press briefing on June 4, He Yongqian, spokesperson for the ministry, made the remarks in response to a question regarding a U.S. proposal to impose additional tariffs on economies allegedly involved in "forced labor."
Regarding the Section 301 investigation, He emphasized that China's position remains entirely consistent.
"China opposes all forms of unilateral restrictive measures, including a series of trade restrictions imposed on the nation under the pretext of 'forced labor'," He said, adding that China has repeatedly expressed its solemn stance on this matter.
The spokesperson urged the U.S. side to work with China in the same direction and jointly maintain the stability of China-U.S. economic and trade relations.
