A dedicated motorsport-themed exhibition area at the fourth China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) has brought together universities, research institutions and industry players, showcasing China's growing motorsport ecosystem and exploring opportunities for deeper industrial cooperation.

Among the exhibits is an autonomous Formula race car developed by the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT).

Wang Yixiang, a BIT student and captain of the university's Formula Student autonomous racing team, said the team competes in the annual Formula Student China (FSC) competition, in which participants must independently design, build, test and race a Formula-style vehicle with autonomous driving capabilities within one year.

"Since joining FSC in 2017, our team has won five overall championships," Wang said.

The exhibition also features Tongji University's Yao Qiming Motorsport and Safety Research Center, which is attending CISCE for the first time.

Shen Yichuan, assistant director of the center, said its work focuses on designing international racetracks and FIA-certified circuits in China.

"We have completed more than 200 racetrack projects in China and abroad, and most racing circuits in China were designed by our team," Shen said, describing motorsports as an important driver of automotive innovation.

"Motorsports serve as a testing ground for passenger vehicle development and a laboratory for road safety," he added.

Shen said the center hopes to use the CISCE platform to raise public awareness of motorsports.

Shanghai Hehui Sports Culture Development Co., Ltd. is using the expo to promote the 2026 MXGP of Shanghai, one of the world's premier motocross championships, scheduled for September.

Li Xia, the company's public relations manager, said the expo gives the event exposure to a broader audience.

"We hope CISCE will help more people learn about the competition," Li said. "It is a fast-paced sport with strong spectator appeal."

Chen Mingsheng, director of the Technical and Safety Committee of the Federation of Automobile and Motorcycle Sports of China (CAMF), said exhibitors were grouped together to highlight the integration of industry, academia, research and competition within the motorsport sector.

"The motorsport industrial chain is actually very extensive," Chen said. "Through CISCE, we hope to strengthen connections across industrial and supply chains and further advance the market-oriented development of motorsports."

Hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the fourth CISCE runs from June 22 to 26 in Beijing. The event spans six sectors — digital technology, advanced manufacturing, green agriculture, healthy life, smart vehicles and clean energy — along with a dedicated supply chain services area.
