Editor's note: Nearly 500 jewelry pieces are on display at an exhibition at the China National Arts and Crafts Museum in Beijing, tracing the evolution of Chinese jewelry from ritual vessels to everyday adornments and from traditional craftsmanship to smart manufacturing.

The exhibition features intangible cultural heritage techniques such as filigree inlay and hammered engraving, showing how centuries-old skills are being revived for modern use. It also spotlights the jewelry industry of the southern Chinese metropolis of Shenzhen, where culture, design, art and technology converge. The exhibition runs through Aug. 30.
