China Cycling Super Game to debut in Zigong in late July

The 2026 Volant Aerotech China Cycling Super Game — a cycling festival featuring multiple bike sports — will be held in Zigong, southwest China's Sichuan province, from July 25 to Aug. 8, organizers announced at a press conference in Beijing on July 3.

The event is being jointly organized by the Chinese Cycling Association (CCA), the Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Sport and the Zigong Municipal Government, and undertaken by the Sichuan Water Sports Management Center and the Zigong Municipal Bureau of Education and Sports.

Designed to combine elite competition with mass participation, the two-week competition will feature seven disciplines spanning the full spectrum of cycling sports, including track cycling, road cycling, mountain biking, BMX racing and pump track racing.

Speaking at the press conference, Liu Liqiang, deputy director of the Cycling and Fencing Sports Administrative Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, deputy secretary of its Party committee, and vice president of the CCA, said the event is intended to promote both high-level competition and public participation in cycling.

He noted that Zigong has been selected as the host city thanks to its well-developed cycling venues, extensive experience in staging competitions and strong capacity to organize high-level sporting events.

Liu expressed hopes that organizers would ensure safe and efficient event operations, leverage the competition to enhance urban development, deepen the integration of sports and tourism, and make full use of the city's venues to build the competition into a benchmark cycling competition. He also called for incorporating Zigong's distinctive salt, dinosaur and lantern cultures into the event to boost the local sports economy and strengthen the city's identity as a cycling destination.

Chen Xingdong, deputy director of the Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Sport, said that Sichuan has established a comprehensive cycling venue network and a mature cycling ecosystem by pursuing the integrated development of sporting events, urban development, industry and public well-being.

He said the event would serve as a national-level competition, a showcase for Sichuan and a signature event for Zigong. Upholding the principles of being streamlined, safe and outstanding, the competition will be held to further integrate sports with culture, tourism, commerce and other industries, stimulate the event economy and contribute to building China into a country strong in sports, he added.

Chen Zhangming, vice mayor of Zigong, said the city has built a cluster of cycling venues and accumulated extensive experience by hosting several national cycling competitions.

During the event, Zigong will provide comprehensive support services while introducing themed cycling routes that showcase its renowned salt, dinosaur and lantern cultures. The city aims to deliver a high-level cycling festival that combines professional competition with public participation and integrated sports-tourism experiences, he noted.

The complete visual identity of the 2026 Volant Aerotech China Cycling Super Game was also unveiled at the conference. The official logo and key visual elements combine Zigong's cultural symbols with aspects of competitive cycling, creating a distinctive brand identity that reflects both the city's heritage and the sport's dynamism.

A flag handover ceremony was held during the press conference, with representatives from the CCA, the Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Sport and the Zigong Municipal Government jointly passing the event flag.

The conference concluded with guests officially launching the event through a digital activation ceremony, marking the start of the 2026 Volant Aerotech China Cycling Super Game.
