US president says to address nation on Thursday

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that he would address the nation on Thursday evening.

"President Trump will be making a Speech to the Nation on Thursday evening, at 9 P.M. Eastern (0100 GMT Friday). Thank you for your attention to this matter!" Trump wrote in a social media post.

Trump did not reveal the topic of the address.

The announcement came hours after Trump said that the United States was reinstating a naval blockade on Iran in the Strait of Hormuz.
