Quzhou native breaks Asian record at national swimming championships

Quzhou native Yu Yiting snapped a gold in the women's 200m individual medley at the National Swimming Championships with a stunning 2:06.82 to smash the Asian record.

With this milestone swim, the athlete became the first Asian woman to break the 2:07 threshold and the fifth-fastest woman in the history of the event.

Yu showed her dominant form early in the competition, cruising through the preliminary heats with a top-seeded time of 2:12.12 to comfortably secure her spot in the final.

The final turned into a battle between Yu and fellow competitor Yu Zidi. Yu Yiting seized an early lead during the opening butterfly leg and steadily expanded her gap through the backstroke and breaststroke turns. Powering through a relentless freestyle sprint, she maintained her commanding lead all the way to the touch pad to seal her historic gold medal.
