Israeli EuroLeague basketball club Hapoel Tel Aviv announced on Saturday the signing of American guard Eugene German, who spent the past four seasons in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).

The 28-year-old played for the Qingdao Eagles, Fujian Sturgeons and Beijing Ducks, averaging 24 points, 5.1 assists and 4.4 rebounds in 175 regular-season CBA games.

During his two seasons with Beijing, German averaged 19.9 points in 20 playoff games. He helped Beijing reach the CBA Finals in 2025, where the team lost 4-2 to Zhejiang Lions, and the semifinals last season, falling 3-1 to eventual champion Shanghai Sharks.

Before moving to China, German played college basketball at Northern Illinois and had brief spells with Ionikos Nikaias in Greece and Merkezefendi in Türkiye.

"I'm ready to bring energy every time I step on the court and give everything I have," German said after signing. "Let's win the Israeli championship title together."

Hapoel head coach Dimitrios Itoudis said German is a player who can score in different ways and contribute across the court, adding that the guard understands the significance of this step in his career and arrives highly motivated.
