FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday finally confirmed the transfer of Spain international striker Ferran Torres to the French club.

Torres leaves the Camp Nou after four and a half seasons in which he made 207 appearances for the reigning La Liga champions, scoring 65 goals and providing 22 assists. He scored 16 goals in La Liga last season, making him the joint top-scoring Spaniard along with Lamine Yamal.

The deal was completed for 50 million euros (58 million U.S. dollars), with 26-year-old Torres signing a contract until the end of June 2031 with the two-time European champions.

The move was finally completed after Torres, who scored the winning goal in this summer's World Cup final, was allowed to miss three Barcelona training sessions to conclude negotiations over personal terms.

He trained with his new club for the first time on Saturday.

The transfer fee will be useful as Barcelona looks to complete the signing of Spain international midfielder Rodri Hernandez from Manchester City, but Torres' departure also leaves the club short of attacking options a week before it kicks off its La Liga title defense.

Torres' departure follows that of Robert Lewandowski at the start of the summer, leaving Barcelona without a specialist "number 9", although the club has brought in wingers Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi from Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund.
