Botafogo sacked Portuguese manager Franclim Carvalho on Tuesday after less than five months in the role.
The announcement followed a 1-0 away loss to Vitoria in Brazil's Serie A last weekend and a 6-1 defeat to Peru's Cienciano in Cusco last week.
"Botafogo thanks Franclim and his coaching staff for the services rendered and wishes them success in their next challenges," it continued.
Youth team coach Rodrigo Bellao will assume the vacant role on an interim basis.
Carvalho oversaw 10 wins, seven draws and five losses after his appointment in April.
