APEC China 2026: Experts discuss Asia-Pacific logistics cooperation in Tianjin

On August 25, the Asia-Pacific Logistics Cooperation and Development Technical Exchange Conference, hosted by the China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing (CFLP), was held in Tianjin. Supported by the study "Promote the Development of Open and Integrated Asia-Pacific Logistics," undertaken by Research Institute of Highway (RIOH) under Ministry of Transport, more than 100 academic and industry representatives from five APEC economies attended the event.

In his opening address, Liu Yuhang, Director and Party Secretary of the China Logistics Information Center, noted that China's logistics sector is currently making steady progress while forging ahead, continuously injecting momentum into the smooth functioning and prosperity of the Asia-Pacific supply chain. Against the dual backdrop of the APEC China Year and the full implementation of the 15th Five-Year Plan, he highlighted that Asia-Pacific logistics cooperation has yielded substantial results, with regional connectivity steadily improving, trade volumes growing robustly, and technological advancements driving an accelerated transformation toward intelligent and efficient operations. He called on all parties to smooth cross-border logistics corridors, enhance customs clearance facilitation, promote the shared innovation of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, and actively expand practical cooperation in emerging areas including new energy vehicles. He urged collective efforts to jointly advance the Asia-Pacific logistics sector toward a smarter, greener, and more resilient high-quality development trajectory.

During the keynote session, distinguished speakers took the floor, including Dao Thi Thu Dung, Director of the General Department of VinFast Co., Ltd. (Vietnam) and Expert at HaiPhong University of Management and Technology; Zhang Yingying, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Innovation Department at China Logistics Group and Deputy Dean of the China Automotive Logistics Research Institute; Tay Wee Huat, Secretary-General of the Malaysia Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of its Enterprise Innovation and Digital Transformation Committee; Luo Yan, Lead of the Modern Logistics Management Program at Guangxi International Business Vocational College; Professor Huang Qingbo from the School of Maritime Economics and Management, Dalian Maritime University; and Li Jia, Asia-Pacific Marketing Manager of TALKE Chemlogistics Group. Their presentations covered a broad range of topics, including new energy vehicle supply chain trends between China and Vietnam, intelligent loading technologies for export logistics, digitalized cross-border cold-chain ecosystems, industry-education integration in ASEAN cross-border logistics, the smoothing of global maritime industry chains, and logistics support for the petrochemical industry's global expansion. Through these diverse perspectives, the experts shared practical achievements and research insights that contribute to advancing high-quality development in Asia-Pacific logistics.
