Yuan, Kiselev claim third golds at junior diving worlds

China's Yuan Qingcheng and Russia's Miroslav Kiselev, both 14, each claimed a third gold medal at the 2026 World Aquatics Junior Diving Championships on Wednesday.

Yuan won the girls' Group B 10m platform title as China swept the top two places, while Kiselev triumphed in the boys' Group B 3m springboard.

Scores from five preliminary dives were carried over into the three-round girls' final. China's Jiang Yuehan led after the opening round, with Yuan in second place.

Yuan scored 86.40 points for an armstand back double somersault with 1.5 twists in the second round, cutting the gap to her synchronized partner to less than three points.

Jiang struggled with her entry on her final dive, a forward 2.5 somersault with 1.5 twists, while Yuan finished strongly to secure the title. Jiang took silver and Mexico's Lia Cueva Lobato finished third.

Yuan said the individual platform title was the most difficult of her three golds in Rijeka because she was competing against her strong partner.

"But I thought it would be possible," she added. "The last dive was a little bit bad," Jiang said softly in English. "I don't know what happened. I think I over-rotated."

Yuan and Jiang had earlier teamed up to win the girls' synchronized platform title. Yuan also helped China claim gold in the mixed team event.

In the boys' Group B 3m springboard final, Kiselev won with a total of 492.95 points. Mexico's Ian Caleb Nava Gutierrez finished 16.35 points behind to take silver, while Australia's Hayden Brinckley earned bronze.

Kiselev had previously won the boys' Group B platform title and partnered Kosimov to victory in the boys' synchronized platform, taking his tally in Rijeka to three golds and one bronze.

Russia leads the medal table with four golds, three silvers and two bronzes, followed by China and Mexico.

The girls' Group B 3m springboard and boys' Group A platform events will be contested on Thursday, with the championships concluding on Friday.
